A Gentle First Expedition
Wiggling free from my cozy box took a surprising amount of soft determination, but once my paws met the couch cushions, there was no turning back. I padded across the fabric plain toward the wooden edge of the coffee table. Right there, resting beside a ceramic mug, was a pair of metal reading glasses. When I tapped the curved arm with a careful paw, it rocked slightly and threw a tiny sliver of warm evening lamplight across the polished wood. I sat back on my haunches, feeling rather proud of navigating the great living room terrain all by myself.
