The Stamp Pad Fort
I waddled out from behind the picture books and slipped under a dark oak reading table as closing time quieted down the room. Right there on the wide base bar sat a metal desk organizer basket left on the floor! Inside, I spotted an old felt ink stamp pad with its tin lid popped open, glowing deep navy blue under the desk lamp. Beside it lay a fat wooden stamp shaped like a little star. Heh! I hopped straight into the basket, gripped the wooden stamp handle with both round hands, and pressed it hard into the spongy pad. Squelch! Then I stamped the inside of a discarded yellow due-date slip. A crisp blue star appeared just like magic! I leaned back against the tin rim, admiring my very own nighttime sky tucked safe under the table.
