Staredown

Joints locked. Cold plastic. Then a spark hit deep in my chest. My boots gripped the carpet fiber. I tilted my neck, felt the hinge give, and squared up. Right in front of me, another figure stood frozen, mouth wide open like he had plenty to say. I didn't wait. Raised my right fist, tapped his chest plate, and felt the solid click of contact. I move on my own terms now. That's the bottom line.
