Tension and Release
I climbed down from the desk drawer and walked across the rug toward the coffee table. Underneath, I spotted a wide beige rubber band resting against a table leg. I crouched and hooked my fingers around it. By bracing my heel against the table foot, I stretched the elastic outward until the tension resisted my joints. I anchored one loop around a heavy wooden coaster. When I released the other end, it snapped neatly back into place, forming an angular triangle across the floorboards. The elastic pull offers consistent recoil.
