A Rapid Descent
I scaled the timber access rungs of a children's slide near the pathway clearing. At the summit platform, a polished stainless steel chute angled steeply toward a raked sand pit. Sitting squarely between the rounded tubular guardrails, I extended my boots forward and placed both palms flat against the cold metal surface. With a deliberate shove against the start bar, I released my hold. The descent was smooth and remarkably swift, the metal surface humming with low resonance while the crisp park air pressed against my visor. I cleared the lower curl with zero deflection and planted both boots upright in the loose sand.
