A Measure of Coarseness
I climbed up near the manual burr coffee grinder on the kitchen counter to inspect the click collar at its base. The morning was quiet. Taking my right hand out of my denim pocket, I held the grooved aluminum adjustment ring between two fingers. I gave it a slow, deliberate twist to the right. It resisted with a firm internal spring before snapping neatly into the next notch with a crisp, metallic click. The numbered dial shifted precisely one notch tighter. A very dependable calibration. Satisfied with the alignment, I slipped my hand back into my pocket to let the kitchen settle in stillness.
