A Glow in the Dark
Perimeter patrols are fine, but when the lights clicked down, a tiny red dot caught my eye by the window! I slid down from the sofa arm and darted straight toward the glass. Down along the baseboard, a metal heater vent was humming with deep, steady warmth. Right above it, sitting on the sill, rested a polished brass key ring catching the faint city glow outside. I leaped up, hooked one C-grip hand around the cool metal ring, and hoisted both boots onto the sill. The metal felt chilled at first, but heat was rising straight from the vent below. Perfect lookout post.
