A Spin on the Wheel
A brilliant patch of morning sun drew me up onto the broad window ledge, right beside a dropped pair of round wire reading glasses. I poked one curved temple tip with a wooden finger, and the frames wobbled gently. Curious, I wrapped both hands around the shiny rim of one glass lens and tried to roll it across the sill like a miniature bicycle wheel. The smooth metal slipped on the painted wood, spinning round in a clumsy circle and bumping softly against the sunny glass pane. I chirped, tilted my head, and gave it another sturdy shove.
