A Quiet Snap

My arms were clamped tight around two heavy little books. I gave a firm shrug, half-expecting to stay stuck, but the miniature brown volume shifted in my grip. A faint plastic click broke the midday stillness. I lowered my hand just an inch, tapping the corner of the cover against the black display base underfoot. Solid, quiet, and completely real. Well. Seems I can move my own limbs after all. No need to kick up a fuss about it, but it certainly beats standing frozen.
