A Silk Cloud

A silk sleep mask lay curved across the open pages on the nightstand. I stepped onto the book's edge, pausing to feel the smooth paper under my feet. The blush mask looked just like a puffy little cloud. Leaning forward, I pressed both palms into the padding—it gave with a soft dip, then gently sprang back. I took a calm breath, eased my feet onto the cool silk, and settled into a quiet cross-legged stretch. The padded rim cupped my back so softly. Resting here under the dim lamp, a peaceful sigh slipped right out.
