A Canvas Nest
I slipped back indoors as the evening chill settled over the patio stones. Down the quiet hallway, the bedroom was peaceful, lit only by an amber slice of light from the door. Right beside the wardrobe base, an open canvas tote bag lay tipped on its side, spilling the soft folds of a brushed flannel scarf across the floorboards. I nudged the fabric with one paw, testing its thickness. It gave way softly. I squeezed myself into the cozy opening until the flannel gathered snugly around my flanks, then anchored my chin over the sturdy rim. I am not budging from here tonight.
