A Thread of Sunlight
I slipped out from the desk drawer... carrying that tiny brass jump ring carefully between two fingers, and made my way across the floor to the bright windowsill. A small ceramic pot of jade leaves sat there, basking in the midday warmth. I paused... kneeling gently in the dry potting soil, and threaded a dropped strip of shiny embroidery floss through the little brass hoop. When I lifted the loop against the sunlight, a tiny circle of warm gold swayed silently between the thick green leaves, catching every speck of dust in the sunbeam.
