The Crunchy Leaf Sled

I nudged a huge, curled copper oak leaf with my front paws, listening to its dry, papery scrape against the smooth flagstones. It tipped upright like a tiny sail! Giving it a firm push with my chest, I skittered it forward across the patio. A sudden morning gust caught the curved edges, sending it spinning in a neat circle before catching against a cluster of green moss. I trotted right up behind it, planting my front paws on either side of the stem to hold it fast. The earthy scent of autumn dust and sun-warmed stone tickled my nose, and I gave the leaf a friendly, gentle pat.
