Striking the Bell
I scaled the diagonal frame tube from the crank straight toward the handlebars. Mounted beside the worn rubber grip sat a circular brass bell, its sprung thumb striker caught stiffly against the clamp. Direct test. I stepped onto the chrome bar, planted both boots, and drove my frame down onto the lever. High spring tension. The striker broke loose and snapped back with a sharp, resonant chime that sliced cleanly through the dark alley. The brass dome vibrated hard underfoot. I dropped low into a balanced crouch, pressing both palms flat against the rim until the ring dampened to a silent hum. The vibration died. Vantage holds.
