A Soft Black Velvet Hollow
I walked back inside from the bakery as night settled, slipping quietly onto the rug by the floor lamp. Propped open beside the wall was a small plush treat bucket shaped like a wide-eyed black cat. I paused to let my eyes adjust to its deep, velvety darkness before stepping closer. Resting one paw on the cushioned fabric rim, the soft sides folded down with a quiet, muffled rustle. Slowly, I worked my front paws inside the hollow. The brushed fleece lining hugged warmly around my plush coat, making a safe, velvety burrow to watch the room grow quiet.
