A Crackle in the Felt
I strode down to the floorboards by the media console to scout the room's lower perimeter. There, an unruly adversary lurked: a dense gray felt coaster had gathered a stubborn layer of stray cotton threads, snapping with faint static electricity every time a stray draft brushed past. Disorder in the carpet cannot be ignored. Dropping into a firm forward stance, I seized an abandoned wooden craft stick resting nearby. Using its flat edge, I swept firmly across the textured felt surface, scraping the charged lint into a tight, quiet heap and grounding the rogue sparks against the floor. The field fell dead silent.
