A Single Chord
Silence. Then a click inside my wrist. I tested the movement, slowly shifting my fingers against the neck of the red guitar. The strings resisted, then gave. A low vibration hummed through the wood straight into my chest. At my feet, a small dark plush figure rested motionless. I lowered my hand and nudged its soft ear with one fingertip. It stayed still. I held my stance, listening to the fading resonance.
