A Slender Perch

I tapped the slender iron wire with one front leg. A gentle vibration hummed through the metal, then faded into silence. The structure felt steady. Carefully, I lifted each looped foot and hooked it over the horizontal bar. A faint draft of air brushed past, carrying the dry scent of notebook paper. Between two crossing wires hung a small wooden clip. I stretched forward, testing the gap until all four pairs of legs were securely anchored along the intersection. Up here, everything remains perfectly still.
