Sneaker Tune-Up

Slipping back inside through the door gap, my soles were thoroughly dusted with dry cedar chips from that playground slide. Can't let signature wheels idle down looking sluggish! I hopped straight onto the slatted oak shoe bench and spotted a folded yellow microfiber cloth resting beside a brass shoehorn. Sitting flat against the timber with my legs kicked forward, I gripped the cloth with both gloved hands and gave each red shoe a rapid, rhythmic buffing. A few sharp passes took care of the grit, catching the warm overhead lamplight in a clean finish. Treads cleared and primed for tomorrow's dash!
