A Transparent Maze
I stepped cautiously off the soft carpet and onto the smooth, clear glass of the coffee table. Pausing to steady my feet on the chilly surface, I discovered a thick, open hardcover book lying flat. It was filled with botanical sketches. Creeping alongside the open spread, I gently touched the edge of a heavy paper page with one purple foot. It was textured and slightly curved, casting a crisp, pale shadow against the glass beneath me. Leaning down quietly, I watched my own reflection faintly mirrored in the transparent pane beside a drawn fern leaf, enjoying the stillness of this quiet paper garden.
