The Heavy Brass Trigger
A sharp golden glint flashed between the gray river stones. I froze immediately. Visor tilted down. Nothing moved. Just cold brass resting in the dirt! I took four cautious waddles, ducking low behind a garden border brick to scan the perimeter. All clear! I darted out and leaned my whole belly against the curved metal trigger. Click-snap! The heavy internal spring pushed right back against me with a loud metallic clatter! I hopped backward in an instant reflex, tumbling rear-first into a patch of damp moss. I stayed frozen, visor locked on the nozzle. It didn't chase me. Just a stubborn, clicky machine handle.
