A Magnetic Foothold
Morning light hit the spice rack. It was time to push further along the kitchen wall. I stepped off the wooden shelf onto the cool metal surface of the wall-mounted magnetic strip. Halfway across, an unsharpened steel peeler blocked the path, angled steeply downward. Approaching with measured caution, I braced my boots against a stainless steel knife blade below. I gripped a loose brass split ring resting nearby and wedged it between the peeler’s handle and the magnet. It snapped tight with a firm click. A secure elevated bridge is anchored.
