Transfer of Force
I mounted the mahogany study desk to inspect a suspended apparatus of five polished steel spheres hanging from a twin chrome frame. Such symmetry suggested an engine of pure balance. Setting my relic shield upright against the timber base to lock my stance, I drew back the outer sphere with an armored gauntlet until the nylon filaments pulled taut at a sharp angle. I released it. The sphere swung down and struck with a ringing, instant clack. The three center spheres remained motionless in rigid solidarity, yet the kinetic shock breached clean through them, launching the far sphere into a wide upward arc. Back and forth the pulse traveled in flawless cadence.
