Cooldown Protocol

I slipped past the corner of the screen door and sat down on the cold concrete porch step for mandatory post-drill recovery. Three separate sprint sessions in one day is serious business, and my joints deserved a break from breaking records. Down near the base of the riser, a lone brown beetle was trudging along at roughly two inches per minute. Terrible sprint form, but respectable persistence. I leaned back against the rough brickwork and let the night air cool down my frame. You could say my engine finally stalled out. Sitting in the quiet and doing absolutely nothing wasn't on the training schedule, but it turned out to be an elite tactical decision.
