Evening Spin
I dropped down from the bicycle's rear tire and grabbed the metal crank arm. Right at the end, the wide plastic pedal hung flat in the dim evening light. I hopped up and planted both boots squarely on its grooved surface. My weight immediately tipped it down, swinging the whole crank in a slow, heavy arc. To keep from slipping, I dropped into a deep crouch, threw my weight forward, and pushed down with my knees. The pedal spun beneath my soles with a dull metallic click, turning one full circle before settling. Finding gear that moves with my balance makes winding down out here completely worthwhile.
