Cabin Descent Protocol
The elevator doors sealed with a muted metallic thud, enclosing the cabin in steady fluorescent light. A subtle upward pull pressed against my joints as vertical descent initiated. Maintaining balanced footing on the ribbed rubber floor mat, I navigated to the cabin corner to minimize turbulence exposure. High above, a polished stainless steel handrail stretched horizontally, reflecting the illuminated floor indicators overhead. The descent slowed with a controlled deceleration pulse, followed by a crisp chime. Movement concluded. I held my defensive perimeter position, waiting for the exit threshold to part.
