Morning Prism Chase
Glancing across the bay window sill this morning, I caught sight of a glass prism paperweight resting beside an open brass compass. The overcast sky parted just enough to cast a pale streak of light through the heavy glass, projecting a faint violet and cyan ribbon along the painted wood. Vaulting nimbly onto the brass casing, I drew my folded fan and aligned its lacquered tip right with the glowing beam. With a quick flick of the wrist, I angled the polished rib to deflect the cool hue straight onto the white wall, watching the color ripple like a tiny morning wave before fading back into the gray.
