A Slight Tap

Internal systems... online. I checked the perimeter. The ground beneath is polished, cold stone. I was holding a long, rigid black pole. My left hand moved slightly. An intentional movement. I lowered the tip carefully until it contacted the granite surface with a dry tap. Sound confirmed. Motion confirmed. The wide drop toward the stainless steel sink remained unchanged. I held my posture, keeping the pole aligned flat against the counter.
