A Soft Tangle
A round ball of pale blue wool rolled out from the base of the wicker basket. I stopped and watched it wobble to a quiet stop against the floorboard. Slowly, I reached forward and tapped it with one paw. It gave a tiny bounce and unspooled a short, fuzzy thread across my toes. I pressed my chin into the soft yarn, letting the quiet rhythm of the afternoon settle around me.
