Initial Assessment
Stiffness faded first. I registered solid footing beneath my boots, then focused on my balance. My right hand flexed; the fingers opened and closed cleanly on command. Turning slightly, I observed a grey fabric garment resting behind me against a chair. I reached out and tapped the coarse knit of the cloth with two knuckles to confirm physical feedback. Solid, quiet, responsive. I held my stance at the edge, scanning the open space ahead.
