A Gentle Uncurling
The quilted fabric beneath me felt cool and ribbed. I was lying twisted on my side. Slowly, I lifted my trunk. It responded, soft and steady. Next to me sat a large red plush creature, perfectly still. I gently extended one knitted foot to nudge a fold in the blanket, watching the cloth ripple. Everything was quiet. I pushed my small limbs under me, slowly propping myself upright to rest quietly beside the quiet red shape.
