A Hollow Echo
Stiff limbs. Then, a pulse. I flexed my fingers and tested the ground beneath my boots. Solid. Behind me rose a towering blue pillar of steel. I turned, clenched my fist, and struck its cold metal flank. A sharp, hollow chime rang out in the quiet room. It didn't yield, but it registered my strike. Adequate. I folded my arms and took my stand right before it.
