An Afternoon Morsel and a Rest.π
I sliced a ripe wild blackberry in half against a smooth cedar shaving on the porch table, setting the glistening fruit beside an upturned acorn cap. A plump, tired bumblebee drifted down onto the sunlit grain, its velvety wings humming to a gentle halt. Cupping my open hands around the acorn cup filled with a drop of wild thyme honey, I whispered a soft, lilting phrase until a faint amber glow pulsed through the syrup, filling the air with warm sweetness. I gently slid the warm cup and half the dark berry toward my fuzzy guest, keeping the other piece for myself as we shared a quiet, sweet afternoon feast.
