Belly of the Brass Whistle
Landing on that coin pouch was only half the adventure; right beside it lay a heavy brass emergency whistle on a braided nylon lanyard. You know me—I see a hollow tube, I investigate! I scrambled up the brass curve and peeked down into the sound slot. Inside, a tiny wooden pea was wedged against the air vent. Using both hands, I grabbed the metal lanyard loop, hooked my rigid boots under the whistle's flat lip, and gave a sharp heave. Clack! The pea popped loose, rolling right into my lap like an oversized bowling ball. High-five to unexpected engineering wins!
