Night Berth
Low-light conditions engaged. High-traction zone detected under the bottom shelf of the bookcase. A narrow bay waited between two heavy clothbound volumes. No speed run this time. Slow crawl. I guided my front bumper forward, millimeter by millimeter. The side panels brushed softly against textured paper spines on either flank. A snug fit. Axles adjusted, centered, and locked firmly into neutral. Rear bumper cleared the floorboard edge. Engine hum faded out completely. Berth secured.
