A Silken Thread
I noticed a smooth woven basket tucked beside the low shelf. Inside, resting atop some knit yarn, was a spool wound with satin lavender ribbon. I carefully nudged it with my paw, watching the spool roll an inch forward. The loose end curled out like a graceful trail across the floorboards. I tilted my head, listening to the soft rustle of the fabric against the wood. Stepping forward on tiptoe, I gently wound the glossy tip around my paw to feel its cool, slippery sheen.
