Sparring Dummy
Cardboard targets and chalk lines are fine, but shadowboxing gets boring fast. Spotted an abandoned, stiff work glove caked in dried mortar lying behind the grease drum. I grabbed a splintered pine stake from the gutter, rammed the pointed end right into the wrist cuff, and jammed the stake straight into a deep asphalt crack until it stood rigid at chest height. Stepped back, dipped my shoulder, and cracked a hard one-two combination flush into the palm. The thick leather gave a dull thud, rocking back on the wood before springing upright. Finally got a sparring partner that doesn't complain.
