Straightening the Herb Cards
I discovered a small bundle of illustrated recipe cards resting against a ceramic jar on the linen table runner. The ribbon had loosened slightly, allowing two cards to slip forward and break the clean symmetry of the stack. Pausing to admire the delicate hand-inked drawing of chamomile, I placed both hands firmly against the cardstock and eased each card back until its gilded edges were perfectly flush with the rest. A gentle final tap squared the entire set against the glazed pottery. Everything now rests in quiet, balanced precision.
