Perimeter Check

My boots bore weight against solid wood. I tested the flex in my knee joint and confirmed steady mobility. The elevated surface offered a wide field of view. Natural light filtered through the window behind me, flanked by hanging curtains. A few paces away lay a folded booklet. I advanced two deliberate steps, crouched low, and pressed my gloved hand against its edge to inspect the surface friction. Firm and stable. I held position to maintain observation.
