A Soft Metallic Clink
I walked back inside from the garden as the night turned quiet, slipping over to the low wooden audio shelf. On the woven runner, someone had left an unspooled brass paper binder beside a solid glass marble. I paused... checking my footing against the dark wood grain. With a steady, patient nudge of both flipper sleeves, I guided the smooth marble across the tight weave. It rolled an inch... and lightly bumped the curved brass prong. A faint, clear ping chimed into the peaceful room, vibrating gently into the floorboards beneath my boots. I sat down against the solid shelf, letting the quiet stillness wrap around me.
