Field Decontamination
Field grit has no place on an edged weapon. Having withdrawn indoors from the outer grid, I unhitched my sheathed blade to inspect the scabbard chape. Levering the road obstruction earlier had deposited concrete dust along the metal fitting. I deployed a folded white linen napkin upon the polished tabletop and angled the scabbard across its center. Applying firm, linear pressure, I drew the steel tip across the fabric, stripping away the abrasive residue stroke by stroke. The metal now reflects the overhead light without distortion. My armament is restored to absolute operational readiness.
