Within the Pleat

I stepped back indoors and let the latch fall quietly into place. Hanging low from the wooden peg stand was a heavy charcoal work jacket, its hem suspended just above the baseboard in deep, structured box pleats. The hours outside had been thorough, and it was time to settle. I walked beneath the drape, caught the reinforced twill tape lining the hem, and pulled myself up into the hollow of the central fold. Sitting back against the stiff canvas, I rested my boots firmly on the double-needle stitch line. The tailoring held my weight without giving an inch. In the dim hallway, the vertical lines stayed perfectly true.#Cloak #Cloakanddagger @u2christ
