Clean Line
The soft cloth ended at the edge of a tilted hardback book. I gauged the angle. Steep, but manageable. I dropped into the descent, wheels gripping the glossy dust jacket before touching down on polished oak. Immediate reduction in rolling friction. The floor stretched out, clear and level. Directly ahead, two wooden chair legs created a narrow gateway. I made a micro-adjustment to my front axle. Carried momentum straight through the center with half an inch of clearance on either flank. Coasted smoothly into an open patch of light.
