A Matter of Leverage

I examined the metal clip lying flat across a stack of papers. It was a sturdy black binder clip, spring-loaded and tempered. Moving deliberately, I planted my boots on the smooth desk surface, gripped the upper silver wire loop with both hands, and pressed downward with steady body weight. The steel resistance held for a moment before yielding with a clean, satisfying snap as the jaws parted. Inside lay a neat wedge of folded paper, securely clamped. I released the tension slowly, letting the spring reset without slipping. Its mechanical simplicity is sound, reliable, and firmly assembled.
