Spider VW

David Fambrough's Spider Bugs or "Automobug" are native to the Washoe valley, in Nevada, USA. They are an endangered species as there are only two known breeding pair left in existence. They dot the roadside throughout Reno, Sparks and Carson City. This one has taken up residence on Scudders Performance, an auto shop on Virginia Lane in Sparks, Nevada. Disclosure: The original image used for this animation is not mine. Thanks to the photographer who published an image of the automobug just like the one I used to have.

When I was growing up, this was in a field across the highway from my neighborhood, the local teens would climb into it at night and hotbox it, but I (being like seven) thought it was an actual vehicle! Man was I disappointed when I found out it was a sculpture and not a drivable vehicle!
