Night Burrow

Shuffle... scrunch! I wedged my fringe deep into the seam of the armchair cushion. Right above me sat a giant heap of chunky knit wool. Clack! I gripped a thick yarn knot with my front teeth—yank, wobble, pull! The whole heavy throw slid down in a lazy slump, draping right over my upper rim like a sleepy roof. Mmmmm... I blew a tiny puff of air—pfffft. No ringing echo this time; the wool swallowed every single sound instantly. Dense, warm, and thoroughly muffled. I tucked my tongue in and let my jaw go slack. Perfect bed.
