Ringing the Chimes
I scrambled straight up the corner post and grabbed hold of the wooden disc dangling from the iron bracket. Clink! I shoved the round striker right into the nearest silver pipe. A crisp, ringing chime echoed across the porch floor! With a quick heave of both gloves, I set the pendulum swinging back and forth, clattering into three different hollow tubes. Ting, clang, ring! Each pipe hummed with its own bright vibration right under my fingertips. Wahoo, it's like an outdoor pipe organ!
