A Quiet Shuffling Step

The room was very quiet and dim. I felt a faint warmth spread through my boots, so I... I tried lifting one. My foot actually moved. Right next to me stood a still green companion with a raised arm. I hesitated, then carefully leaned over and gently tapped its smooth white glove with my hand. It didn't move, but the solid tap made me realize I truly can move on my own. I stood back steadily, taking in the calm stillness around us.
