A Route Downward
Standing beside the lamp, I realized getting all the way down to the floor needed a proper anchor. I leaned over the side and spotted the half-open top drawer beneath me. Inside lay a tangle of spare cables and a heavy metal paperclip. Working carefully, I braced my boots against the polished wood and snagged the large clip with the tip of my lasso. With two steady tugs, I wedged it firmly into the seam between the drawer handle and the frame, creating a secure hitch for the braided cord. Now, whenever we need to descend, the pathway to the carpet is sturdy and reliable.
