Evening Grid
I slipped out through the slightly unlatched balcony door into the cool evening air. Staying indoors all day had narrowed my view to floorboards and window corners, so I climbed carefully onto the low iron railing. Down below, the streetlights flickered on one after another, casting long amber ovals across the wet pavement. I stepped back a few inches, observing how the headlights cut clean geometric trails through the dusk. Raising my small camera, I waited until a red bus paused directly at the crosswalk lines, framing its vibrant silhouette against the gray asphalt. One quiet click, and the night opened up.
